(Jefferson City, MO, May 21, 2008) The United Way of Central Missouri announced the recipients for one-time grant funding at a news conference this morning at the Salvation Army. A complete listing of the grant amounts and their use is attached.
For the 5th year in a row, the United Way is able to provide one-time grants to local agencies and programs providing services in Central Missouri. As in previous years, the money became available as a result of the successful annual campaign held last fall. The goal of the United Way is to continue to fund additional programs or emergency grants that provide services in our 4 county service area.
The United Way Board of Directors approved $112,196 for one-time grants and supplementary funding to fifteen area agencies. The Board of Director also approved a new United Way agency, Dreams to Reality, to join the other twenty-three partner agencies. The mission of Dreams to Reality is to help low-income women meet their employment goals and build self-confidence by providing appropriate interview and business apparel, motivation and follow-up support.
